How to verify shortlist claims and copied PDFs.
Your name is on a list someone forwarded on WhatsApp — congratulations? Not so fast. Fake shortlists are a thriving scam business. Here's how to verify properly.
The only verification that counts
Check the official CDCFIB portal and the officially published shortlist PDF for your recruitment round. Download the list from cdcfib.gov.ng yourself — never trust a forwarded PDF, which can be edited to include anyone's name.
Red flags in fake lists
Lists circulating only on social media with no official publication, "shortlists" that ask you to pay a "processing fee" to confirm your slot, and messages claiming you were shortlisted but your name "hasn't been uploaded yet." Real shortlists are published openly; nobody needs to DM you about yours.
After verifying
If your name is genuinely on the official list, follow the screening instructions to the letter — dates, venue, documents. If it's not there, don't pay anyone to "add" it. See tracking your recruitment status for what comes next.
